Fishkill

Peaceful Upstate Village

Fishkill, founded by the Dutch in the 1600s, has held onto its small-town traditional spirit. A serene outpost at the edge of the New York City area, the village nonetheless offers tons of recreational options, hiking, fishing, sports and plenty of open space in which to enjoy nature.

The Commute

From the Fishkill station to Grand Central, the commute on Metro North ranges from 72 to 86 minutes, depending on the hour.

The Place To Go

The Cracker Barrell Old Country Store, for a family dinner. Or, hike nearby Mount Beacon, just a short drive toward the Hudson.

The Landscape

On Broad Street downtown, you'll find brightly-painted Victorians and Federal-style homes with picket fences. Further outside the town, there are more farms and open pastures.

The Legacy

The name Fishkill comes from the Dutch words for "fish" and "creek" Also, some of the town's architecture from the 19th century still endures today.
